Charcoal Sketchbooks:
Landscapes
with Kate Boucher
Charcoal Sketchbooks:Landscape... a three day course with artist Kate Boucher.

Across three days you will be learning how to use sketchbooks to explore and record the landscape with the versatile medium of charcoal.
We will gather natural forms and take simple and quick photographs of the beautiful surrounding landscape, bringing these back to the studio to work from.
You will experiment with the different forms of charcoal, erasers, drawing cloths, and brushes and learn about how to develop your ideas in a sequence.
On Friday evening there will be an opportunity to make charcoal from driftwood and branches collected from the beach, local woodlands or even just from the grounds of Moor and Sea. While we do the charcoal burn there will be mulled wine and hot chocolate to keep you warm! Your pieces of charcoal will be ready for you to use on Saturday morning!

Some of our reviews...
"Thoroughly enjoyed this course. It was well-paced and gently delivered. Kate finds a good balance between demonstration and guidance which encouraged me to try images I would previously have shied away from. Thank you, Kate.
Brilliant course. I’ve always hated charcoal but wanted to challenge myself & liked the images that Kate had used to advertise the course. I’m so glad I signed up for it I’m totally converted & now love charcoal. Kate took us through graded exercises to give us confidence to tackle scenes from the beautiful landscape. She is a star tutor!
